 Help us settle a bet: do live lobsters make a noise when they are put in boiling water?

 With apologies to Mary Tyler Moore*, we have put many a lobster into a pot without hearing a single squeak or shriek.

*We at Ochef generally try to avoid political arguments, so we have no excuse for including the following tidbit: Mary Tyler Moore joined with PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, to protest lobster eating, according to Trevor Corson, author of The Secret Life of Lobsters: How Fishermen and Scientists Are Unraveling the Mysteries of Our Favorite Crustacean. He says PETA has a mascot and a motto that says, "Being boiled hurts." Unfortunately, he notes, their mascot is red, which suggests the lobster has already been boiled....
