Making a Recipe Kosher for Passover

If a recipe calls for regular flour, can cake meal and/or potato starch be used to make it kosher for Passover? If so, what are the conversion equivalents?

For 1 cup of flour, substitute 3/4 cup matzo cake meal or potato starch, or a combination sifted together.

There are a few other equivalents worth mentioning:

  • To produce 1+ cup matzo farfel (coarse matzo meal), grind 3 crumbled matzos coarsely in a food processor
  • To produce 1 cup matzo meal, grind 3 crumbled matzos in a food processor
  • To produce 1 cup matzo cake meal, finely grind 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons matzo meal in a blender or food processor
