Q.  I just attended a wedding luncheon and had the most wonderful salad. I wasn't able to find out what the exact recipe was, but it had spinach, red leaf lettuce, Mandarin oranges, blueberries, dried cranberries or raisins, candied almonds, feta cheese, and a type of raspberry dressing that was very sweet, but didn't taste like vinegar. Do you know of any recipes that fit this description that I could make on my own?

A. Sounds like the happy couple found a great caterer. It’s not a salad we’ve come across, but, of course, creative people are making new salads and other dishes every day that don’t make it into cookbooks or Internet databases.

From your description, it sounds like you’ve got a better shot at putting together such a salad than we have. But before you launch out on your own, find out who the caterer was, let her know how impressed you were with the entire luncheon and that you’ll refer your friends to her, and, by the way, would she mind sharing with you the recipe for that wonderful salad? She’ll be flattered and maybe you’ll get it.
