Please inform me how to prepare fresh coconut, i.e. the best way to get it out of the shell?

 Pierce two of the three eyes with an ice pick (does anyone still have an ice pick?), or awl, or nail, and drain the coconut juice. Then crack open the shell with a hammer, aiming for a ridge at the eye end.

Break the meat from the shell, and scrape or peel the dark inner skin away from the flesh with a knife. It’s a delicate job, but somebody’s got to do it.
