What can I substitute for cane syrup?

 Syrup from sugar cane is most commonly available as Lyle’s Golden Syrup in this country, and it is abailable in more and more supermarkets. Another brand we have tracked down is Monin Pure Sugar Cane Syrup. More brands are available in Britain. Corn syrup is not as sweet or flavorful, but can generally be substituted for cane syrup.

Or you could make a sugar syrup of 1-1/4 cups sugar with 1/3 cup of water, and boil until syrupy.
