Q. I have a lot of Lucerne Fat Free Half and Half on hand. Can I make homemade butter out of it?

A. If you can spin straw into gold, you can certainly create a solid block of fat from a fat-free liquid. Otherwise no.

Butter is made only from thick, rich cream, and has a butterfat content of at least 80%. Regular half-and-half is a blend of milk and cream and has a butterfat content of 10% to 12%. You cannot practically make butter of that, either.
