Q. I would like to purchase small diameter (like 1 cm to 1.5 cm) Parisian melon ballers. Where can I find/buy them?

A. How much of a hurry are you in, and would you mind a change of venue?

One of our retail partners, , sells 1 cm, 1.5 cm, 2.2 cm, and 3 cm melon ballers made by the German company Wüsthof, each for $13.49. Unfortunately though, the company does not stock them, so on special order (where you have to pay in advance), it may take six to ten weeks before you take your first scoop. How ripe are your melons?

A company in Texas, Eagle Mountain Knife, which does not offer us even the teensiest commission on sales, has a line of Forschner/Victorinox melon ballers, ranging in size from 1 cm to 3 cm, as well as an oval melon baller that looks to be about 2 cm wide, and all around $9 each. We have not been in touch with the company, so don't know if their products are in stock, but it's certainly worth a try.
