Q. I am gluten intolerant and wanted to know if you could make homemade vanilla.A. Pardon? When did they start sneaking gluten into vanilla? Or more specifically, what makes you think the two proteins present in wheat flour that link in the presence of water to produce gluten are present in vanilla beans? They aren't. Nor are they present in the alcohol and water solution in which the beans are steeped to make vanilla extract.
