Q. Can I freeze already slivered almonds?
A.
Absolutely. As mentioned elsewhere, nuts are well served by being frozen. Because they generally contain large amounts of oil, they are prone to turning rancid. Almonds are less oily than Brazil nuts, hickory nuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, and walnuts, but are still about 54% fat. Storing them in the freezer multiplies their shelf-life by a factor of two to four.
