What Does q.b. Mean in a Recipe?

I came across a term in recipe that I had never seen before — "q.b." What does it mean?

Your recipe is either by an Italian writer or a prissy, fussy, show-off-y one.

q.b. is short for quanto basta in Italian, literally "enough quantity," or "as much as needed" in English. It's the same as so many English recipes that specify salt (or any other ingredient) "to taste." The writer is deferring to your judgment, preference, and experience — whether or not you have any.
