Comments: Make a cake; save the planet.
OK, it may not be quite that easy, but this set of mixing bowls is a big step in the right direction. They are made of only 30% traditional plastic (which comes from petroleum); the greater part comes from plants. Yes, you read that right – plants. The packaging (a cardboard wrapper) is 80% recycled.
The bowls, which nest easily for storage, have a capacity of 2-1/2 quarts (2.35 liters), 3-1/2 quarts (3.3 liters), and 4-1/2 quarts (4.25 liters). Each has a pouring spout.
The base is touted as being non-slip, but these are not like the rubber bases found on some bowls. These provide a degree of traction, but will slip if you apply too much leverage. The side walls are quite thin, which we think makes them elegant. There is a very slight texturing on the inside of each bowl, which we also like, but which may be a matter of personal preference. The bowls can be washed in the top rack of a dishwasher.
