2 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
Sift the dry ingredients together. Cut in the shortening with a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse meal, or mix everything together in a food processor fitted with a steel blade.
You can store the mixture at room temperature for about six weeks.
Note: For a sweet mix, you can add a tablespoon or two of sugar.
Yield: 2-1/4 cups
