The objection to refried beans is that they are traditionally fried in lard, and often a great quantity of it. We do not necessarily think they are satanic, but have provided some thoughts elsewhere for substantially cutting the amount of fat.

What you describe – beans cooked with vegetables and spices in a pressure cooker – many people would almost consider diet food. Beans, as sources of energy, protein, and minerals (especially iron, phosphorous, and potassium), and low in sodium and essentially fat free, are almost universally considered good food.

with any food, however, don't overdo it. Eat enough for now and let the next meal come when it's time.
