Pierre Hermé was born on November 20th, 1961 in Colmar, Haut-Rhin, France. He started his career as a pastry chef and chocolatier at the early age of 14 years old in Paris; with Gaston Lenôtre as his first mentor, the Inheritor of four generations of Alsatian pastry and bakery tradition, rapidly ascended into the world of haute pâtisserie. With "joy as his sole guide", Hermé designed his own world of unique tastes, sensations and pleasures that led him to revolutionized even the he most deeply ingrained traditions of pastry-making. In 1998, along with Charles Znaty, he started to build a pâtisserie empire; they founded The Maison Pierre Hermé Paris and the first store was opened in Tokyo. Due to the company immediate success, it started to expand powerfully around the world with many boutiques within Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Pierre, the named "Picasso of Pastry" (Vogue), was awarded many distinctions and titles, including "World's Best Pastry Chef" by San Pellegrino’s “50 Best” organization, "The Kitchen Emperor" by New York Times, and the most influential French person in the World by Vanity Fair.
