Comments:Now your mise in place can be earth-friendly, too. That is, you can prep your ingredients and place them in these bowls, ready to go as you cook – and you'll help the environment in the process. These bowls – like their big-brother mixing bowls – are made of 70% plant material and only 30% traditional plastic from petroleum. The packaging (a modest cardboard wrapper) is 80% recycled.

The bowls, which nest easily for storage, have capacities of 1, 2, 3, and 4 cups. Each comes with a lid, which we found to be quite stiff. Additionally, the bowl has a thin lip meant to hold the lid in place. Once you get it seated firmly, it is very unlikely to spill. It is also not the easiest thing in the world to remove.

The bowls are sturdy and can be washed in the top rack of a dishwasher.
