And black truffle seeds and fiddlehead fern seeds and morel mushroom seeds – who wouldn't love to grow them? Who wouldn't get rich growing them?

And actually, you would be looking for ramps bulbs, wouldn't you, since the plant grows from bulbs? Sadly, there are just some plants that the best farmers and scientists have not yet figured out how to cultivate. Smack dab in the middle of that category is ramps.

Ramps, which are a variety of wild leeks, are known as ephemerals in the plant world – organisms with a brief or transient life cycle.

The leaves can be used in salads, soups, stews, omelets, etc., and the bulbs are prepared in the same way as leeks or onions, and can be pickled. Not everyone likes ramps.

However much you'd like to organize every detail of your life, you forage for ramps, you don't cultivate them. At least not yet.
