A new spin on our classic design

Before the introduction of the OXO Good Grips Salad Spinner in 1998, crank or pull-tab salad spinners were considered high-end products. Some people even used the spin cycle of their washing machine to dry lettuce. Our easy-to-use Spinner transformed the tool into an everyday kitchen essential.

Nearly 20 years later, we revisited the Spinner to make some updates while keeping the top features and original inspiration: a children’s top. With a modern design that complements contemporary kitchens and an improved brake that stops on a dime every time, we think you’ll love our new spin on the classic design. Dry salad greens with a simple press of the soft, non-slip knob. The non-slip base keeps the bowl steady on the countertop, and the updated built-in brake button stops the Salad Spinner for unloading. The basket doubles as a colander, and the lid comes apart for easy cleaning.

Comments: This is simple to use. Release the latch and the knob pops up. Press it a few times to start the basket spinning. Use the brake to stop the spinning. A non-slip ring keeps the bowl steady on the countertop. The basket and bowl can be taken apart and used separately (you can serve the salad in the bowl). The clear lid lets you see the lettuce, spinach, and other greens as they spin. When you're finished, lock the knob back down for storage. The salad spinner is safe on the top rack in the dishwasher.

It is big, meaning that it holds a lot (the bowl holds just over 6 quarts and the basket holds a hair under 5 quarts), but also that it takes up serious space in the cabinet and especially in the refrigerator, if you use it to store your lettuce (which we recommend).

We overheard someone walking around the office muttering, "this is the salad spinner I've been waiting for all my life." Really, need we say more? (OK, the same person loves the green color – "it just seems right….")
